At Smithfield United Church of Christ, we like having a good time and spreading a little joy around us. From our annual downtown summer camps for kids to our seasonal festivals and the Smithfield Street Theater's regular theatrical plays, there is always something to get involved with or just attend for fun. For a quick overview of upcoming events, be sure to check our calendar page.
Let us give thanks for the bounty God has provided, and the love and fellowship we share in Christ at Smithfield United Church of Christ as we gather around the table for a Harvest Home Luncheon on November 24. Please sign-up in the social hall so we may know how many people are planning to attend, and to note what food you might bring to share: entrée, side dish, salad, or dessert. Also, in the spirit of giving, our food pantry is in need of toilet paper, paper towels, and Kleenex. These items may be brought to the church any time in November.
Mark your calendars for December 12 and 13 for Smithfield UCC’s 8th annual Cookie Walk! This year’s festival will take place from 11 am to 1:30 pm in the social hall! Help is needed in all aspects of planning and executing this event, so if you can help please contact Mariruth Keebler at 412-841-4469 or or the church office at 412-281-1811. In addition, we need cookies! We are asking people to bake 6 to 10 dozen of their favorite Christmas cookies and then bring them to the church by December 8. Please label your cookies with your name, type of cookie, and indicate if the cookies contain nuts or if they are gluten-free.
Cocoa for Prisoners: Once again, we are collecting instant hot cocoa packets for the inmates of the Allegheny County Jail. You can help by donating cash (please mark the envelope and put it in the collection plate during the offering). You can also talk to Rebecca Senkowicz directly or email her at email@example.com. You can even buy the cocoa yourself! All the cocoa packets must be identical, so please buy Swiss Miss - Regular which is the one with real sugar, no marshmallows. Deadline is December 1, so please bring your cocoa in soon or pledge quickly.
The Christmas Pageant this year will be held on December 15. Rehearsals start on the SUNDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING. Everyone is welcome! We need kids and adults alike, so if you are interested just show up!
