Smithfield News

At Smithfield United Church of Christ, we like having a good time and spreading a little joy around us.  From our annual downtown summer camps for kids to our seasonal festivals and the Smithfield Street Theater's regular theatrical plays, there is always something to get involved with or just attend for fun.  For a quick overview of upcoming events, be sure to check our calendar page.

Church Happenings

Suzie Hager-Bellesis will be leading a bible study starting September 25 after worship service. The theme will be “Exploring Parables” and will meet from noon until 1 pm.

There will be a Congregational Meeting immediately following worship service on December 4. All full members are encouraged to attend.

What’s the perfect gift for the baby Jesus? How about some diapers! This Advent, Smithfield United Church of Christ is collecting diapers for the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank. Diapers cannot be purchased with funds from federal assistance programs like SNAP (“food stamps”) and WIC. That means that one in three families in the United States is not able to afford enough diapers to keep their babies clean, dry, and comfortable. The Western PA Diaper Bank helps meet this need by partnering with dozens of social service partners to distribute diapers, period products, and incontinence supplies to families in need. Bring a new, unopened package of diapers to the church anytime from the first Sunday of Advent until Christmas Eve. Diapers in any size are welcome, but the Diaper Bank has a particular need for diapers in sizes 4, 5, and 6, pull-ups, and wipes. We will bless the diapers during worship on Christmas Eve worship. As we welcome the Christ child, let’s help care for all the children in our community, too.

Join us on Christmas Eve at 7:30 pm for our annual Christmas Eve Candelight Service. All are welcome.
