Smithfield News
At Smithfield United Church of Christ, we like having a good time and spreading a little joy around us. From our annual downtown summer camps for kids to our seasonal festivals, there is always something to get involved with or just attend for fun. For a quick overview of upcoming events, be sure to check our calendar page.
Church Happenings
There will be a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, December 10. All full members are encouraged to attend.
Jim Varner has announced his retirement and will be leaving his position as Director of Music at Smithfield Church. He has agreed to lead the program through the Christmas Eve service, which will be his last service. This concludes a ministry of over 16 years filled with much love, laughter, and wonderful music. He wishes Pastor Shannon and his beloved Smithfield Church much success as they move forward into the next epoch! The peace of Christ be with all of you.
Christmas Pageant, indeed! This year's annual Christmas Pageant will be held during the December 17 worship service!
Cocoa for Prisoners: Once again, we are collecting money to purchase instant hot cocoa packets for the inmates of the Allegheny County Jail. You can help by donating cash (please mark the envelope COCOA and place in the collection plate during the offering) or send a check directly to the church (also marked COCOA).
